Transition from sawgrass to coastal habitat
Transition zone between sawgrass and coastal habitat.

NPS photo

Located deep within the Everglades backcountry, Cane Patch affords access to sawgrass habitat upstream in Shark River Slough, to coastal habitat downstream in the Shark River as it flows toward the Gulf of Mexico. Keep in mind that a backcountry permit is required to camp at all backcountry campsites in the park, including Cane Patch. Below, listen to a recording of birds or let a chorus of amphibians serenade you from their watery home at Cane Patch.
