Marjory Stoneman Douglas Visitor Center Ribbon Cutting

You're invited to the official ribbon cutting to dedicate the new visitor center in Everglades City on December 12. The event is free and open to the public.

The new two-story facility replaces the former Gulf Coast Visitor Center, which was destroyed by Hurricane Irma in 2017. The site features flood‑resistant design, native landscaping, an expanded marina with kayak launch, and improved public access. This project honors Marjory Stoneman Douglas' lifelong commitment to protecting South Florida’s unique landscapes and wildlife.

**Please note that the building is not yet open for daily operations. Refer to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Visitor Center (Gulf Coast) page for the building's current status**
