Things To Know Before You Come

  • Thomas Edison National Historical Park will no longer accept cash as a method of payment for entrance fees or the purchase of park passes.

  • Glenmont Estate Tour information:
    • Tickets for Thomas Edison National Historical Park (Glenmont Estate Tours) will be released for sale 7 days in advance of the scheduled tour at 10:00 AM Eastern Standard Time until midnight the day before the tour.
    • Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM (Eastern Time Zone)
    • Bookings will begin on April 5, 2023, for the season.
    • This is a 30-minute walking tour of the first and second floors of Glenmont Estate. (There are many stairs and no elevator)
    • Tickets for all Glenmont Estate Tours are ONLY purchased on a first come first serve basis on Recreation.gov website.
    • No tickets will be available at the Visitor's center.
    • You must first visit the Laboratory Visitor Center at 211 Main Street, West Orange, New Jersey to obtain A car pass to drive to see Glenmont grounds and Garage.

  • A Cell phone tour is available at the Laboratory Complex and Glenmont grounds or through the NPS app. The app is available for download here
  • There is no food or drink permitted in the park.

  • No pets (except documented service dogs) are allowed in the park.

  • There is no picnicking permitted in the park.

  • Bicycles or skateboards are not permitted in the park.

  • Smoking is not permitted in the park.

  • Hand held photography is for personal use only. No flash photography or selfie-sticks permitted. To protect the fabrics, paintings and artifacts, there is no photography allowed in Glenmont. Photography Policy can be found here on the Permits page.
