The last three climbers of the season checked back at the Walter Harper Talkeetna Ranger Station on Sunday, marking the END of the 2016 Denali and Foraker climbing season. The season-ending summit percentage was a healthy 60% on Denali, paired with a better-than-average summit rate for Mount Foraker at 44%.  Our front desk staff has begun the database cleansing process, so these numbers might change slightly as we prepare our Annual Mountaineering Summary in the fall. At that time, we'll also have route-specific statistics, top summit days, and other annualized averages (age, gender, nation of origin, etc) for the 2016 season.

Mountaineering rangers and helicopter crew convene for the final morning meeting of the 2016 season

Its rare we get an (almost) full house at the Talkeetna Ranger Station morning meeting, but this photo was taken on the annual season de-brief day before several of the seasonal mountaineering rangers departed Alaska for their next adventure. From left to right: Ranger Joe Reichert, Acting South District Ranger Tucker Chenoweth, Ranger Dave Weber, Ranger Dan Corn, Ranger Roger Robinson, Helicopter Mechanic Nate Smith, Ranger Mik Shain, Helicopter Pilot Andy Hermansky, Ranger Frank Preston, Ranger Joey McBrayer, Lead Mountaineering Ranger Coley Gentzel, Ranger Mark Westman, and Ranger Chris Erickson.
