If you have not created a resource for the CKEditor you must first do so, then refresh this dialog to display it in the CKEditor dropdown list. See Site Admin - Resources and Libraries.

You can also configure the behavior of the CKEditor by specifying additional configuration options in the Custom Configuration Options text area. See the CKEditor documentation for more information on its options and how to specify them.

• Custom Configuration Options: Use this field to optionally customize the ckEditor configuration. Specify one option per line, as described in the dialog.
• Customers often wish to set CKEditor to always paste plain as was possible in the previous Rich Text Editor. Using the Custom Configuration Options section, you may add this line to accomplish the Force Paste Plain setting:
  CKEDITOR.config.forcePasteAsPlainText = true;
• More information about customizing CKEditor may be found on the CKEditor website.

Toolbar Buttons

You can set the default configuration for which toolbar buttons display in what order for the Rich Text Editor within this site. Click the Configure button to invoke the Configure Toolbar Buttons dialog. See Configure to enable, order, and format the edit controls that display to authors and editors.

HTML Source Editing

You can control the visibility of the Source icon in the Rich Text Editor toolbar for directly editing HTML. Specify which groups should see the Source icon. By default HTML source access is enabled for everyone. To limit access, clear any groups listed and add only those who should have access. Note that if no groups are specified, everyone will have access to editing HTML source.

• Groups - Use the Always Show to Groups setting to make HTML editing available to one or more groups, overriding default and page-level settings. Click the Change button to select one or more groups.

 

Style Options Tab

Style Options

These options determine which class names display in the Rich Text Editor. There are two options for the Style Options:

• Use Registered Styles - (RECOMMENDED) You can define styles for selection within the RTE at the site level using the Site Administration > Content Formatting > Manage Style Definitions menu option. When this Style Option is selected, CommonSpot only displays the registered Styles configured for the currently select component.
• Use Stylesheets from the Page - This option displays all classes available through dynamic discovery of the page's registered CSS documents.
  • Include Default CommonSpot Styles (styles beginning with 'CS_')- The RTE has the ability to import classes dynamically. You can enable/disable the display of the default styles provided by CommonSpot. This option defaults to unchecked to limit the number of styles returned.
  • Stylesheet exclusions: If you use any CSS frameworks,you may manulally exclude style sheets to avoid loading a large number of styles. Enter a full or partial URL of the stylesheet to exclude. In the screenshot above the bootstrap styles are being excluded.

   

The HTML Clean-up tab presents options for invoking TIDY, the HTML clean-up utility. You do not need to have MS Office loaded on the server for this function to be available.

Choose from the following to set the conditions for running the cleanup utility.

Configure TIDY

Select one or more cleanup options.

• Run TIDY to clean content edited in the Rich Text Editor: This option automatically runs cleanup for all content entered in the Rich Text Editor and any elements or fields that invoke the RTE. These include the Formatted Text Block and Formatted Text Block (without header) elements and rich text fields within metadata forms or simple forms. Defaults to checked.
• Run TIDY to clean content upload via the HTML element: Automatically runs cleanup for content contained in the HTML Element. See the Elements Reference for details. Defaults to checked.
• Log TIDY warnings and errors upon submitting Rich Text Editor content: Defaults to unchecked.

Display TIDY Messages

Select one or more cleanup options. You can also configure the level of detail contained in the messages the utility displays. When unchecked, Allow submission with warning and/or errors suppresses display of the "Continue" option in the message box shown to users during paste, file upload, or form submission. With no option to continue, contributors must fix the code whenever a TIDY error or Warning is displayed.

TIDY Settings

Optionally edit or remove settings or reset to TIDY defaults. Click the URL for details on TIDY each setting.

Use the Disabled Tags field to prohibit use of specific HTML tags for security reasons. Any content entered in the HTML view or pasted into the RTE with these tags will be parsed and the specified tags will be removed. Defaults to frame, iframe, and script tags.

Note: If the options for the HTML TIDY utility and the Microsoft Office HTML Cleanup utility conflict, the MS Office version takes precedence.
