External Multimedia Services

CommonSpot supports integration of both local and externally hosted video and multimedia services. To include video or multimedia stored on the external sharing sites supported for this release of CommonSpot, you must first set up a Brightcove or YouTube account.

Once you complete setup, use this dialog as a dashboard for viewing, creating, or changing the number and type of channels available for each service, the number of templates using this service to play multimedia, the number and type of players for each service, and service availability.

Click to sort by Name, Description, Channels, or Players.

Name - The name assigned to the service in CommonSpot.

Description - An optional description for the external service.

Channels - The number of separate content categories currently defined in CommonSpot for this service. Click through to view available Multimedia Channels or to create new channels. You can associate a single external account with multiple channels in CommonSpot, or create separate external accounts for each channel. You can also click the add icon to define another channel for this service as described for the Actions column, below.

Players - The number of multimedia players defined for use with this service. For YouTube and Local services, click through to view a service-specific report of players, or to add, remove, or change player properties. Because Brightcove players require a client and configured on the Brightcove site, players are bound at the channel level. Click a channel link to view Brightcove players.

or Inactive

(grayed out): Click to activate/deactivate a service. In the Active state, services are available to authorized users for uploading new multimedia and adding video to pages through CommonSpot. The external service supporting the channel must also be registered and currently accessible to CommonSpot, as described for Integrating Brightcove and Integrating YouTube

Actions column:

Click the navigate icon to log in to the external service and view or change account settings (as described for Integrating Brightcove and Integrating YouTube).
Click the add icon to add a new channel to this service.
