Prior to 10.6.0, by default CommonSpot used the search functionality distributed with your ColdFusion engine (Adobe or Lucee). As of 10.6, we no longer support the Search Engines bundled with ColdFusion and Lucee. This release of CommonSpot includes the ability to interface directly with a current release of Solr so that search performance is not constrained by the much older search engines included with Adobe ColdFusion and Lucee. Interfacing directly to Solr delivers significant improvements in search performance and accuracy, while providing a foundation for enhancements, such as faceted search, in future CommonSpot releases.
To support this search engine, CommonSpot 10.0 introduced a new Search Engine Interface API and provides an implementation of it for Solr. You can extend this interface and/or update the CommonSpot Solr schema as needed, or implement a custom search service.

Access this dialog from the Configuration section of the Server Administration dashboard to register and configure your search engine of choice in CommonSpot.
Note: Changing the search engine configuration requires a full rebuild and reindexing of all full-text collections. Also note that for Shared Database Configurations, Solr must be installed in the same location, using the same port on all servers. You cannot currently share a single Solr instance.
This dialog gives you the following options:
Full-text search disabled: Pick this option to disable search capability in CommonSpot Save to complete the configuration.
Native Solr: Recommended. Choose this option to implement the CommonSpot Solr implementation. You can optionally extend this implementation through the Search Engine API. See the CommonSpot Developer's Guide for details. Click Next to complete Native Solr configuration.
Custom Solr: Choosing this option or Custom (non-Solr) displays the following field for specifying the path where the custom search-engine.cfc is located. See the Developer's Guide for details on how to create a custom interface.
Click Next to complete the Custom Solr configuration. Click Save to complete Custom non-Solr configuration.
