10 am – Sherman's Crossing and the Occupation of Billy Goat Hill
Location: Riverpoint Trailhead on the Tennessee Riverwalk at Lost Mound Drive in the 3800 block of Amnicola Highway

An amphibious assault across the Tennessee River to attack the Confederate right along Missionary Ridge was intended by Ulysses S. Grant to be his main offensive blow at Chattanooga in November 1863. His most trusted subordinated, William T. Sherman, would lead the attack across the rain swollen river. Join National Military Park Historian Jim Ogden for this two-hour, part-walking part-car caravan tour look at “Uncle Billy’s” efforts to implement his boss’s plan.

11 am – The Battle of Missionary Ridge - A Walking Tour Inside Point Park
Location: Meet inside the Point Park Entrance Gate

On November 25, 1863, US soldiers pushed defending Confederates off Missionary Ridge in what was likely the most successful frontal assault of the Civil War. This 30-45 minute program will provide an overview of this "miracle" on Missionary Ridge from inside Point Park.

12 pm – A Driving Tour of the Battle of Missionary Ridge
Location: Meet at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center

On November 25, 1863, the US troops stormed the seemingly impregnable Missionary Ridge, routing the Confederate defenders and securing Chattanooga for the reminder of the war. This 2-hour car-caravan tour of Missionary Ridge will stop at the Iowa, Bragg, and Sherman Reservations, where insights into the November 25, 1863, actions will be shared.

2 pm - Confederate Artillery at Tunnel Hill
Location: Sherman Reservation, 2900 Lightfoot Mill Road

The defense of the Confederate right at Missionary Ridge was ably supported by the long arm of the Army of Tennessee. National Military Park Historian Jim Ogden will examine the role of the Confederate batteries in turning back Sherman’s repeated assaults in this two hour, 1 ½ mile walking tour at the Sherman Reservation and along a stretch of North Crest Road.
