Women have played an integral part of the history of Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. Those that lived on the battlefield had their lives disrupted by war, and still others came here as nurses or accompanying their husbands to the front. On the homefront, women did not just passively wait on the soldiers to return home. They went to work producing uniforms, weapons, and ammunition that was used at battles like Chickamauga and Chattanooga. During World War II, women did come to Chickamauga as soldiers, as the Army established a large Women's Army Corps Training Depot here. Learn more about the women that shaped our history here, and find out about upcoming tours or programs that emphasize their stories. StoriesPeople |
