Is there an entrance fee to visit the Memorial?
There is no fee to visit Chamizal National Memorial. As a courtesy to our community, the park does issue the America the Beautiful the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass for military veterans, active-duty military and dependents, individuals with disabilities, and 4th grade students.
Are there Volunteer Opportunities at the Memorial?
The volunteer program at Chamizal National Memorial offers a wide variety of opportunities for interested individuals. Our volunteers lend a hand to our staff in clerical duties, interpretation and education outreach activities, and maintenance work. Are there picnic facilities available at the park?
The Memorial has a limited number of tables and grills located in different areas of the park that are available on a first-come/first-serve basis.
Comida al aire libre en el parque
En las áreas noroeste, sur central y sur del parque hay 9 mesas para picnic y parrillas cubiertas distribuidas. Se permite hacer picnic en cualquier parte del predio del parque. Le pedimos que coloque toda la basura en un bote de basura y no traiga piñatas, huevos con confeti o recipientes de vidrio al predio para ayudarnos a mantenerlo limpio y hermoso. Estos objetos no están permitidos en el parque. Invitamos a los visitantes a traer sus propias mesas y sillas para picnic.
Los baños públicos y las fuentes de agua para beber están ubicadas en el área sur-central del predio, en el Centro para visitantes y en el edificio de administración (durante las horas hábiles).
Is camping allowed at the Memorial?
No, overnight camping is not allowed. The park closes each night at 10:00 PM.
Can we leave our cars park at the Memorial while visiting Mexico?
The Memorial's parking lot is strictly for park visitors. We recommend you park your vehicle at one of the commercial lots located in downtown El Paso (approx. 1 mile west of the park).
Is the Rio Grande river accessible from the park?
No, there are two major highways between the park and the river. Trails along the river are accessible further up and down the river in more rural areas.
