Carl Sandburg Home NHS and the Friends of Carl Sanburg at Connemara announce Jane Sadusky as the 2011 Carl Sandburg Writer-in-Residence.

Ms. Sadusky spent much of her childhood in rural Minnesota in the landscape of lakes, farms, and winter. Since 1983 she has lived in Madison, Wisconsin. She is the author of "Winter Road" and "Family Photos," both award-winning stories published in Wisconsin People and Ideas. She is the recipient of a Rowland Foundation Fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center (VSC) and returning residencies to VSC and to Norcroft. She is nearing completion of a novel, Prairie Amusements, which will be the focus of her work as the 2011 Carl Sandburg Writer-in-Residence. In addition to her work in fiction, Sadusky is an independent researcher and the author or coauthor of many publications addressing issues related to violence against women.

A welcoming reception in Ms. Sadusky's honor will be held on Friday, March 11 at the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce, at the corner of Kanuga and Church in Hendersonville, NC from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. She will share a few selections of her writing beginning at 5:00 p.m. followed by a reception from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served and visitors will have an opportunity to visit with and learn more about her. The public is welcomed.

Ms. Sadusky will then lead a workshop on March 26, 2011, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Carl Sandburg Home NHS, call 828-693-4178 for information and reservations.

Ms. Sadusky will also appear at the Carl Sandburg Student Poetry Contest Celebration on March 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce, at the corner of Kanuga and Church in Hendersonville, NC. The public is welcomed.
