Basic Information

The Fruita Campground is often described as an oasis within the desert. Adjacent to the Fremont River and surrounded by historic orchards, this developed campground has 71 sites. Each site has a picnic table and firepit and/or above ground grill, but no individual water, sewage, or electrical hookups. There is a RV dump and potable water fill station near the entrance to Loops A and B. Restrooms feature running water and flush toilets, but no showers. Accessible sites are located adjacent to restrooms.

The fee for the Fruita Campground is $25.00 per night. Golden Age/Senior Pass or Golden Access/Access Pass holders receive a 50% discount. Check-out time is 11:00 am. The Fruita Campground is open year-round, and is the only developed campground in Capitol Reef National Park.

With only 71 spaces in the Fruita Campground, the park has a 100% reservation system. There is currently much higher demand for the campsites, and the sites are full several months in advance. There are many camping alternatives in the area. The park is surrounded by public lands where dispersed camping is allowed. Please use those areas when Fruita Campground is full.

Campsites are reservable year-round; visit www.recreation.gov to make a reservation. Reservations are accepted 6 months ahead of time. The busy season is mid March through October when the campground is typically fully booked. In the winter, there is less demand and it is easy to secure a campsite.

Between March 1 and November 30, the length of stay is limited to 14 days and can be booked on recreation.gov in 5-day blocks. Between December 1 and February 28, the length of stay is limited to 30 days.

A dump station and RV water tank refill are available between Loops A & B. They are free to use with a campsite reservation; otherwise it is $5.00.

Rules and Regulations

Generators may not be run outside of approved generator hours to power medical devices or other equipment.
