Backcountry Hiking Day Use

Fishing

Backcountry hiking permits allowing access to Klondike Beach are issued at both entrance stations. There is a limit of 25 permits issued per day at an administrative cost of $5.00. Permits are sold on a first come first served basis. Permits may be suspended for operational safety. Hikers must be out of the park by closing time.

Backcountry Hiking is permitted for the east side of the dune only. Crossing the dune is a resource violation, because the dunes and the plants on the dunes are protected.

Ask a ranger at the entrance station about obtaining a backcountry permit if you are interested in getting one for the day. One entrance station is in Apollo Beach and one is in Playalinda Beach.

Canaveral National Seashore is located along Florida's East coast in both Volusia & Brevard counties. To access Apollo Beach - take I-95 to exit 249, then go east until it turns into A1A. Follow A1A south to the park entrance. To access Playalinda Beach - take I-95 to exit 220. Go east through Titusville on Garden Street, continue east and follow the signs.
