MOST FRIDAY AND SATURDAYS IN JULY-“TURTLE WATCH” 8:00 PM - Journey with a Park Ranger and visit Canaveral National Seashore to view a loggerhead sea turtle nesting. Turtle Watch Programs give park visitors an opportunity to learn about sea turtles and the role that the National Park Service plays in their conservation. The program will take place in the Playalinda & Apollo Districts on most Fridays & Saturdays July 10,11,17,18,24 &25. The fee for this program is $25 for ages 16 years and older (ages 8 to 15 years is $10). Children must be 8 years old or older to participate. Reservations are required and space is limited. SUNDAY 5th- 10:00 AM- “SEASHORE 101” - Join Park staff for a 30-minute talk to discover what makes Canaveral National Seashore so special. Meet at the Visitor Center. (30 minutes)
MONDAY 13th - 10:00 AM- “THE SEA TURTLES ARE HERE”-Find out the current numbers of sea turtle nests on your national seashore. Learn about the 4 different species that use our shores to lay their eggs. Meet at the Visitor Center. (1 hour)
MONDAY 13th and 20st - 1:00 PM- “MANATEE TALK” – Observe manatee in their natural environment and learn about their unique characteristics from a park ranger. Meet at the Visitor Center in the Apollo District. (30 minutes)
MONDAY 20th - 10:00 AM - “BEACH WALK” -Discover gifts from the sea on a walk on the shore. We’ll look for seashells, driftwood, and other wonderful surprises. Be sure to put on sunscreen and bring plenty of water. (1 hour)
MONDAY 27th - 10:00 AM BEACH CLEAN-UP” - Help keep our beaches clean. Join us to clean up your national park Bring water, sunscreen, bug repellant and a hat. We provide trash bags and show you how keep a record of what you collect. (1 hour)
WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY IN JULY- “JUNIOR ANGLER PROGRAM” - 10:00 AM-12:00 PM - Canaveral National Seashore will host a free summer program. Youths aged 8 and up will learn ethical angling. All fishing gear and bait are provided. Reservations are required. Parents/guardians must remain for the program. To make reservations, please call the Apollo Beach Visitor Center at 386-428-3384.
