Herring Cove Beach

Particulars: Seasonal restrooms. Herring Cove has a snack bar, evening concerts in July and August, and is an accessible beach with beach wheelchairs available from the lifeguards.

Directions: Located to the right at the end of Route 6 in Provincetown.

Safety: Use caution on bike trails, watch out for ticks and poison ivy, use caution when walking and do not damage beach grass.

Shorebirds: Protected shorebirds typically nest at this beach. Adhere to posted signs regarding pets

Prominent Features Nearby:
Provincetown town center and the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum are nearby.

This beach offers a gentle alternative to the larger waves on the Atlantic side of the Outer Cape. It is a popular place to watch sunset.

The Province Lands Bicycle Trail, the first bike trail constructed in a national park, travels through this area. It continues on to Race Point Beach, Province Lands Visitor Center, and the Beech Forest. Its is considered the seashore's most challenging bike trail, as it goes up and over dunes. Watch for naturally occurring hazards, such as sand, and keep speeds down.

Race Point Light can be viewed from Herring Cove Beach.
