Contact: Dani Cessna, 508-255-3421 ext. 0305 Balladeer Linda Russell returns to Cape Cod National Seashore for a one-hour musical and historical look at Cape Cod’s natural world. Her program, which will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, August 10 at the recently renovated Salt Pond Visitor Center outdoor amphitheater, will explore the impact of settlement and the relationship between people and the land as revealed in traditional folksongs and popular tunes of the past.Russell explores history through music. While performing on hammered and mountain dulcimers, guitar and penny whistle, she brings life to the ballads, broadsides, love songs, and dance tunes of America's past. Having served for many years as a balladeer for the National Park Service at Federal Hall National Memorial in New York City, she now takes her music to historic sites, schools, and festivals throughout the country. New York appearances have included the Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors Festival and the Carnegie Hall Folk Festival. She has recorded eight albums of traditional American music. This program is part of the summer “Salt Pond Evenings” series. Held weekly in July and August at 7 pm, programs focus on the diverse natural and cultural resources on the Outer Cape and are suitable for all ages. Programs are free of charge and accessible. The series is sponsored by Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Bug spray is suggested for all outdoor evening programs.
