Explore the stories of the Boston Suffrage Movement. This digital map offers snapshots of the people, organizations, places, and events of the women's suffrage movement in Boston. In sharing these stories, we show that discussions and activities surrounding women's political rights spanned the city. While many of these individuals and organizations have gone unrecognized for their contributions to the ongoing fight for political representation, we particularly highlight the contributions of African American women and organizations who worked for both political and racial equality from the mid-1800s into the 1900s. As an ongoing project, we hope to continue to put the stories of suffrage 'back on the map' by encouraging further learning and engagement.
