Management

In accordance with the Blackwell School National Historic Site's enabling legislation, the site will not be managed by the National Park Service until a sufficient quantity of lands or interests in lands have been acquired. This process is estimated to take one to two years pending authorization of acquisition funding to establish legal land descriptions. Until that time, the site will continue to be managed by the Blackwell School Alliance.

Future management of Blackwell School National Historic Site will be informed by comprehensive planning process. Planning processes for the Blackwell School will engage Hispanic/Latinx communities, key stakeholders, the local Marfa, Texas community, and the general public.
