The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area will be having a ranger program on the ecology of fire on Saturday, April 6,starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Bandy Creek Visitor Center.  Ranger Dustin Beaty will talk about how not all fires are detrimental and discuss the beneficial effects of prescribed fire on the environment.

Many national parks, including Big South Fork, plan and implement prescribed burns.  Come find out why.  See equipment and clothing used by firefighters when setting prescribed burns and fighting wildfires.
