The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area is one of only a few National Park Service units legislated to allow hunting. Wild hogs may be hunted from September 28, 2014, through February 28, 2015, in both Tennessee and Kentucky. A permit is required to hunt hogs during this season and may be purchased at the Bandy Creek Visitor Center or online at https://www.nps.gov/biso/planyourvisit/hog-hunting.htm. The permit costs $5.00 and is good for both Big South Fork and Obed Wild & Scenic River; those who purchase the permit will be requested to participate in a survey at a later date. A valid hunting license is required to purchase the permit. Dogs may not be used to hunt hogs.

For further information, contact the Bandy Creek Visitor Center at (423) 286-7275.
