As part of National Park Week, April 19-27, the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area will be hosting Junior Ranger Day activities in conjunction with the Fourteenth Spring Planting Day at the Bandy Creek area on Saturday, April 26.  The Big South Fork is extending a special invitation to young visitors to learn about the history of early farming in the area.  The Spring Planting Day event is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (ET).  Children of all ages are encouraged to attend, and must be accompanied by an adult.  The event will feature horse and mule drawn plowing, craft demonstrations, craft sales and food vendors.  This event will provide a glimpse into the past when farming was really a "down to earth, hands-on activity".  Spring Planting Day will introduce children to the life of a farm family of 100 years ago.  After the completion of the free activity booklet, children will be sworn in to become Junior Rangers.

Please contact the park at (423) 286-7275 for further details and information.
