On Saturday, May 23, of Memorial Day weekend, there will two astronomy programs at Bandy Creek Visitor Center of the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. There will be a solar viewing beginning at 3 p.m. (ET) and a night skies program at 9 p.m.(ET). Paul Lewis of the University of Tennessee will describe which objects to look for in the sky during both programs. Both programs will be held in the parking lots directly in front of the Bandy Creek Visitor Center located at 151 Stable Road, Oneida, Tennessee.

Visitors may want to bring a blanket or chair for comfortable seating for the night skies program. These programs are wheelchair accessible and there is no charge to attend. In the event of rain or inclement weather, the evening program will be moved indoors to the Interpretation and Education building next to the Bandy Creek Visitor Center.
