In celebration of the National Park Service Centennial in 2016, the Fifteenth Annual Spring Planting and Music Festival is scheduled to take place this Saturday, April 25, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (ET) at the Bandy Creek area, Lora Blevins home site and Oscar Blevins farm. From guided hikes and talks by resource specialists to junior ranger activities, there is something for everyone. Free shuttles will be provided all day to all locations.

Events taking place at Bandy Creek include ranger talks and musical concerts under the big tent. Craft vendors will be nearby to sell items such as hand-crafted jewelry, pottery, and embroidery while food vendors will also be available with hot dogs, hamburgers, and other cuisine. Kids can go inside the Bandy Creek Visitor Center and obtain their Junior Ranger badges after completing an activity guide.

Presentations on plowing, gardening, blacksmithing, wooden farm implements, and farm animals will be given at the Lora Blevins home site. Plowing is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and will continue until completed around mid-afternoon. The Knoxville Area Dulcimer Club will also be performing throughout the day near the plow site.

Visitors are encouraged to hike the Oscar Blevins Trail or ride a shuttle to see the Oscar Blevins farm, the place where the park horses roam. Demonstrations on quilting, knot dolls, and toy cars will be available along with music at this location.
