Campsite SpecificsPrimitive roadside sites offer nice views, solitude, and a small flat gravel space to set up camp next to your vehicle. No shade, toilets, or other amenities are provided. The use of generators is prohibited in the backcountry. Rice Tank (RT-1) can accommodate 2 vehicles*, 6 people, no horses. maximum vehicle length is 25' DirectionsRice Tank primitive roadside campsite is located along the Glenn Spring Road, 4.3 miles from the northern end. A short access road leads to the site. Road ConditionsGlenn Spring Road is maintained for high clearance vehicles only. Road is rocky and may become rutted or experience wash-outs, especially after heavy rains. Check with a ranger for current conditions. VegetationNo shade at this site. The vegetation is sparse creosote and lechuguilla. There is a nearby thicket of vegetation around the old stock tank. ViewsThis campsite is located next to an earthen "tank/dam" used to hold water for livestock during early ranching days. There is also an old corral and loading chute for livestock. There are great views of the nearby Chisos Mountains and Elephant Tusk and Backbone Ridge.
