Saturday, June 6: The Dawn of War. This program will showcase conditions in the Borderlands on the eve of the U.S./Mexican War. Park Staff, Living History Volunteers, and Guest Speakers will offer programs and Historic Weapons demonstrations explaining the multiple perspectives of those involved. Living Historians will portray Bent, St. Vrain and Co. Traders from the 1840s and Hide Hunters from the 1860s/70s. The Southern Plains Land Trust will set up a station to discuss modern bison conservation efforts; in addition, programming and Historic Weapons Demonstrations will be presented by Park Staff. At this program presented by Park Staff and Volunteers you will learn all the answers to these questions and more with special talks presented that will set the stage for the Taos Revolt of 1847. |
