Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site is an accurately reconstructed fur trading post that can present challenges for visitors with special needs. Accessibility parking is available at the visitor parking lot. There is a paved pathway, 1,275 feet in length, from the parking lot to the fort that is hard-surfaced and wheelchair accessible. The fort has a wheelchair available that can be requested by calling 719-383-5010 ext. 110 or ext. 133.
The ground level of the fort has sand or concrete surfaces that pose some challenges for wheelchair accessibility. A hand-held player with a tour of the second floor is available by request from an interpreter at the fort. A twenty minute documentary film with open captions and visual description is available for viewing next to the fort fee collection room.
