Teller is located on a spit between Port Clarence and Grantley Harbor on the Seward Peninsula. Teller is an Inupiaq village with a population of around 250. Most residents depend on subsistence resources, including seals, beluga whales, fish, and reindeer for food and other needs. Income is supplemented by selling native crafts. In summer, Teller can be accessed by car via a 72 mile drive north from Nome on the Teller Highway, or by charter and commercial flights year-round. |
