(20 Minutes) - Join a ranger on the visitor center deck as we unlock many of the mysteries that surround the wild horses of Assateague Island!

(20 Minutes) - Join a ranger inside at the visitor center to learn, observe and touch some of Assateague’s resident marine life.

Drop in at the historic U.S. Lifesaving Service boathouse to learn about the heroic men who risked their lives to rescue shipwrecked mariners.
- Located just off Bayberry Drive, across from Ferry Landing Road.
(45 Minutes) - Join a ranger to try our dip nets and take a closer look at marine organisms that thrive in the marshes and bay. Plan on getting wet as you wade the shallows.
- Appropriate clothing and water footwear (no flip-flops) required
(45 Minutes) - During this “crab and release” program with a ranger you’ll learn the mysteries of catching this cultural icon of the Eastern Shore, the blue crab.
- Wheelchair accessible
(30 Minutes) - Join a Ranger to wade out into the bay and learn the ancient art of collecting hard-shell clams. Plan on getting wet as you wade the shallows.
- Appropriate clothing and water footwear (no flip-flops) required
(2 Hours) - Join a Ranger on Saturday mornings for a guided kayak tour through the marshes. Learn about the island's ecology and history!
- Reservations must be made at the Maryland Visitor Center at least one day in advance. - Cost of $20 per person. Credit or debit required. - Arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled tour. - Make sure to bring water, hats, sunscreen, and snacks. Kayaks, paddles, and personal floatation devices provided. |
