![]() NPS Photo/S. Tobin Programs Located at the Maryland Visitor Center (20 Minutes) - Join us as we unlock many of the mysteries that surround the wild horses of Assateague Island!
- Wheelchair Accessible (20 Minutes) - Stop by the visitor center for a short “meet and greet” with the “locals!” Learn, observe and touch a few of Assateague’s resident marine life.
- Wheelchair accessible - Please wash hands before the start of the program (15 Minutes) - Meet with a Ranger to learn about the life and lore of a special Assateague resident during this program.
- Wheelchair accessible ![]() NPS Photo/L. Brendel Programs Located on the Island (45 Minutes) - Try our dip nets and take a closer look at marine organisms that thrive in the marshes and bay. Plan on getting wet as you wade the shallows.
- Appropriate clothing and water footwear (no flip-flops) required (45 Minutes) - During this “crab and release” program you’ll learn the mysteries of catching this delectable denizen of the bay, the Blue Crab.
- Wheelchair accessible (30 Minutes) - Join a Ranger to learn the art of collecting hard-shell clams.
- Appropriate clothing and water footwear (no flip-flops) required (45-60 Minutes) - Join a Ranger on this 1/2 mile guided hike on an elavated boardwalk to explore the marsh environment and learn about the cultural and natural history of Assateague Island.
- Wheelchair accessible (2 Hours) - Join a Ranger for a guided kayak tour through the marshes. Learn about the island’s ecology and history.
- Reservations must be made at the Maryland Visitor Center at least one day before the tour. - Cost of $20 per person. - Arrive 30 minutes before scheduled tour. - Make sure to bring water, hats, and sunscreen. |
