Lower Delaware Wild and Scenic River

The Lower Delaware was designated as Wild and Scenic on November 1, 2000. The river runs along the border of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, with two distinct segments. Of the 67.3 miles designated, 25.4 are ‘Scenic’ and 41.9 are designated as ‘Recreational’. The Lower Delaware river is an important component of the Atlantic Flyway, which is one of four major waterfowl routes in the continent. Historically, this river contains buildings that were used when Washington famously traversed the Delaware, as well as Native American and colonial era sites. This river is home to wonderful cultural, natural, and historic features that can be enjoyed by all, and we are thrilled to celebrate its 20^th Anniversary as a Partnership Wild and Scenic River!
