Introducing the Longfellow House-Washington's Headquarters National Historic Site B.A.R.K. Ranger Program!

The grounds at Longfellow House-Washington's Headqaurters are a fun place to hang out with your favorite paw-tner, but it's important to know how you and your dog can help us to care for this very special place. That's why we've started our B.A.R.K. Ranger Program. B.A.R.K. Rangers know to:

Bag your waste:

  • Help keep the site clean by collecting and disposing of all dog waste. Be sure to carry the bag out of the park.

Always stay on a leash:

  • Pets must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet (2 m); retractable leashes extended beyond this limit are prohibited.

Respect wildlife

  • Please keep your dog at a respectful distance from the small critters that call 105 Brattle St. grounds their home, such as rabbits and birds.

Know where you can go

  • Pets are not allowed in the historic buildings or in the formal garden, but there's lots of room on the grounds to run and explore safely!
  • Please do not leave pets unattended.

B.A.R.K. Ranger Pledge:

Stop by the Visitor Center during open hours to take the B.A.R.K. Ranger Pledge, or do it yourself anytime!

Fill in your pet's name and your name in the spaces. Raise your right hand and your pet's paw and read the pledge out loud.

I, _______________________, a well-behaved dog, and my human, ____________________, promise to respect the rules of B.A.R.K. and to help show others how to care for our National Parks.
