Four Mile Run All-Ability Water Access Point

Located in an under-utilized portion of Four Mile Run Park, Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation’s project will help meet the growing need for healthy recreation opportunities in Alexandria. Based on existing launch point information, there are currently no roller-entry launches or wheelchair-transfer kayak facilities with Potomac River access in the Washington, DC metro area. This effort will result in a public ADA-compliant water access point, suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and other human-powered watercraft. Plans entail a raised boardwalk ramp structure, gangway, and floating dock with a platform and rail allowing for wheelchair transfer into a kayak.
