Most people arrive at Arches by car. There is no public transportation inside Arches National Park. You may need to rent a car, ride a bicycle, or take a commercial tour to get around inside the park. The nearest community is Moab, Utah.

Arches National Park is located in southeast Utah:

• 5 miles north of Moab, Utah
• 110 miles southwest of Grand Junction, Colorado
• 236 miles southeast of Salt Lake City, Utah
• 360 miles southwest of Denver, Colorado

 

Getting to Arches

By Car

The entrance to Arches National Park is north of the town of Moab, Utah.

• From Moab, drive north on US 191 for five miles, or
• From Interstate 70 (Crescent Junction), drive south on US 191 for 22 miles.

By Plane

Most people coming to Arches fly into these airports:

• Canyonlands Field (CNY) (11 miles from the park entrance)
• Grand Junction Regional Airport (GJT) (109 miles from the park entrance)
• Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) (230 miles from the park entrance)

By Train

• Amtrak's California Zephyr serves Green River, Utah, (45 miles from the park entrance) and Grand Junction, Colorado (109 miles from the park entrance).

By Bus

• Greyhound serves Green River, Utah, and Grand Junction, Colorado.

Getting Around

Most visits to Arches involve traveling by vehicle along the scenic drive, which provides access to many viewpoints and trailheads. Some times of year—or even times of day—are far busier than others. Check the Traffic & Travel Trips page for information on busy times of year. Parking lots can be full for much of the day during busy seasons. Road construction may cause delays or closures during your visit.
