| Notes: Tall with brown hair and a pock marked face. He was admitted to the Society of Jesus on 27 October 1710 and professed his final vows at Commotau, Bohemia on 2 February 1728. He left there for Genoa on 12 May 1729. He sailed with a mission of 26 Jesuits for the New World on the ship "La Potencia, alias El Blandón." They arrived in Havana on 2 February 1731 and crossed to Vera Cruz in April, traveling by mule to Mexico City. In mid-June, Grazhoffer set out for the Pimería Alta in the company of Segesser, a Swiss who went to Bac, and Keller, a Moravian who went to Suamca. Grazhoffer was stationed at Guevavi in the spring of 1732, and began building a small physical plant. In mid-summer the Fathers went to San Ignacio to celebrate the feast day of Loyola on July 31. After eight days they returned to their stations. In May of the following year, Father Segesser rode to Guevavi and found Father Grazhoffer sick and dying. Grazhoffer died in Segesser's arms on 26 May 1733. |
