His death is recorded in the Presidial death records of Santa Fe as follows: On the tenth of June of this year 1785, I Fray Juan Bermejo, chaplain of this Royal Presidio of Santa Fe of New Mexico, gave church burial (in the military chapel, adjoining the Presidio) to the body of Don Francisco de Anza, brother of the Lord Governor. He received all the Holy Sacraments of Repentance, Viaticum, and Extreme Unction and made a declaration of his last will before his said brother and for this truth I signed on the said day, month and year as above = Fray Juan Bermejo (rubric) |
