The winter season is a beautiful time to visit Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site! We want you to have a fun and safe visit to the park this winter. The Visitor Center, Engine House No. 6 Exhibit Shelter, and the Lemon House are open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weather permitting, park grounds and trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Please note, there is no winter maintenance on park trails. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are permitted on park trails. Trails are for pedestrian use only. No motorized equipment is permitted on trails. This includes ATV (All Terrain Vehicles) of any description, snowmobiles, and 4x4 off road vehicles. Before you visitThe park is located at around 2,320 feet in elevation.
