The National Park Service (NPS) Fundamentals program is designed to serve as the foundation for all careers in the NPS. Our mission is to invest in new employees, deepen their understanding of the NPS mission and operations, and build their commitment to the NPS core values. NPS employees within their first three years of permanent employment are eligible.

The Fundamentals program is an eight-day residential program offered at the Horace M. Albright Training Center, located within Grand Canyon National Park. Travel, lodging, and per diem expenses for attending this are covered by the NPS Fundamentals Program. The Directorate of Workforce and Inclusion, Office of Learning and Development, sponsors the program. For more information on the program, visit our site on the Common Learning Portal or email us.
