The NPS Inventory and Monitoring Division launched its program to track the ongoing health of parks by first establishing a baseline of 12 natural resource categories. Building on existing park knowledge, NPS conducted comprehensive surveys of significant natural resources. These surveys listed species found or current conditions of—as in baseline air quality. Find the results for specific Greater Yellowstone Network natural resources below. Resources with hyperlinked text will take you to websites where you can drill down to our network parks’ data. Resources listed on the light gray bars display a bibliography of documents that you can download.
The Natural Resource Condition Assessments are not specific to one resource. They synthesize the conditions of multiple natural resources into an overall assessment of ecological health, by park.
