Floods of 1996 and 1997
Floods in Yosemite Valley aren't uncommon during spring, when the Merced River swells with melted snow. The largest, least common floods occur during winter—most recently in January 1997. See what the Valley looked like during floods in May 1996 and January 1997.
 
Ferguson Rockslide Footage
In spring 2006, a rockslide buried a section of Highway 140 outside Yosemite (which has since reopened). The slide remained active for weeks, allowing rare views of a rockslide in motion. This footage was shot after the main slide, but while movement was still occuring.

Yosemite Falls is fed mostly by snowmelt. Peak flow usually happens in late May, but by August, Yosemite Falls is often dry. It begins flowing again a few months later, after winter snows arrive.
