The National Women’s Party came to Seneca Falls, in July 1923, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the 1848 Convention. The group’s celebration was based at the Presbyterian Church at 23 Cayuga Street. On its front steps, Alice Paul – President of the party – first read the text of the originally proposed Equal Rights Amendment, which she had written.
