Wind Cave Visitor Center
The Visitor Center is a great place to start your park visit. Whether you are intrigued with the cave, the prairie, or both, it is easy to discover more about the park by exploring the exhibit rooms.
Wind Cave Visitor Center is opened daily all year except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. The visitor center is open 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with expanded hours during the summer. All cave tours leave from the visitor center. Do not use your GPS to find the visitor center - you will get lost. Click here for directions.
The upper exhibit room has displays ranging from how the native people used the bison to how the park manages the prairie. The cave exhibit room explains cave formations, the development of the cave, and the park's colorful history. The park film, One Park, Two Worlds, is shown in the auditorium.
The park store operated by the Black Hills Parks and Forests Association is open during normal business hours and sells souvenirs including topographic maps, books, patches and pins, and more. Passport stamps are also found in the bookstore.
Stop in at the visitor center for information, cave tours, park maps, Junior Ranger books and badges, and backcountry permits. Interagency Senior and Annual Passes can be purchased at the ticket desk. Interagency Access Passes and 4th Grade Passes are also issued at the ticket desk.
