President Lyndon B. Johnson planted a willow oak outside the Oval Office on the South Grounds on October 16, 1964. First Lady Claudia “Lady Bird” Johnson and Irvin Williams, National Park Service Superintendent of the White House Grounds, accompanied the President during this planting.
