During the summer months, Washita Battlefield National Historic Site may hire a teacher(s) to serve as a Teacher Ranger Teacher (TRT) at the park. The National Park Service's Teacher Ranger Teacher Program provides an extended professional development opportunity for educators from K-12 schools to learn about the resources and educational materials available through the National Park Service. TRTs spend between four to six weeks in a National Park Service unit developing a major educational project, gain three graduate credit hours through an online course from Colorado University Denver, and after successful completion of the program receive a stipend of approximately $3,000. Teachers interested in learning more about the Teacher Ranger Teacher program, please e-mail us or call 580-497-2742 x 4973008. |
