Tour Road Hours

Open to Pedestrians: Sunrise to Sunset

Open to Vehicles: 8:30 AM to 5 PM (Last vehicle entry on the tour road is 4:40 pm)

Check for any park alerts before arriving to keep up to date on road closures that may impact your visit.


Walking

Visitors and community members are welcome to walk portions of the 16-mile-long Tour Road. This road allows for pedestrians to create walking loops that range in length from 3 miles to 16 miles. Along the left side of the road, there is dedicated lane for non-motorized transportation.

Pets and strollers are welcome on the Tour Road. Pets must be kept on a 6 ft or less leash at all times, and owners are responsible for picking up after their pets. Restrooms are available at the Visitor Center from 8 am to 6 pm.

Biking

Bicycles, including Electric bikes or "e-bikes" are welcome to bike portions of the 16-mile Tour Road. Vicksburg National Military Park asks bicyclists to abide by the following rules when visiting:

  • Bicyclists must ride in the direction of traffic flow following the white painted line on the Tour Road.
  • No bicycle shall be operated off established roadways. Bicycles are not permitted on sidewalks, monuments, or the Thayer's Approach Tunnel.
  • Bicycles must be walked on sidewalks and must not be left unattended on a sidewalk.
  • Vehicle traffic on the park tour road can be heavy at times. Please remember to observe traffic patterns and surroundings.
  • Electric bikes are prohibited in any area where the use of motor vehicles are restricted.
  • Using the an electric motor to move an electric bike without pedaling is prohibited.
  • Electric bikes must have an electric motor of less than 750 watts.
