Vicksburg National Military Park is a special place of historical significance and natural beauty. The Visitor Center and USS Cairo Museum offer unique exhibits and artifacts, along with the opportunity to further explore the history of Vicksburg and the Civil War through literature and interpretive media available in the Eastern National Bookstores.  Sixteen miles of tour road provide an exceptional view of the monuments and landscape, while walking routes provide hours of exercise enjoyment for the casual stroller or the serious hiker.

Vicksburg National Military Park was established by an act of Congress on February 21, 1899. The Veterans who fought in the Vicksburg campaign worked tirelessly to see that the park was created.
