Upcoming Scheduled ProgramsAssault Battlewalks May 22, 2024 Join a ranger on May 22, 2024 and learn more about the massive Union Asssult that took place against the Confederate defenses at Vicksburg. Each walk will last 1 hour and explore stories on a separate part of the battlefield. 10 AM: Railroad Redoubt - Meet at Tour Stop #13 (Railroad Redoubt). Learn about the struggle for this key fort guarding the Southern Railroad's access into Vicksburg, the brief Union breakthrough at the bastion, and subsequent repulse by Confederate forces. 2 PM: 2nd Texas Lunette - Meet at the Visitor Center. Learn about the Union attack on this key fort defending the center of the Confederate line, and the experience of the Chicago Mercantile Battery during the assault. Explore more |
