Volunteers are an essential part of Vicksburg National Military Park’s mission. So much of what we do would not be possible without our volunteers. The National Park Service’s Volunteers-In-Parks (VIP) program was created to provide volunteer opportunities to members of the community that would be mutually beneficial to both the park and its volunteers.

There are several ways you can get involved with volunteering at the park. You can volunteer on a regular basis or you can attend one of our major service events throughout the year. We have positions that can fit any schedule. Some examples include:

  • Interpretation Visitor Information Services

  • Photography

  • Park WATCH (PSAR)

  • Living History

  • Youth Program Assistant

We also occasionally offer virtual volunteer positions. They are the perfect way to support the park from afar and from the comfort of your own home. Past opportunities have included:

  • Education Program Reviewer

  • Education Program Illustrator

All current volunteer opportunities can be found online at volunteer.gov and on this webpage. If you don't see anything you are interested in, but would still like to volunteer, contact the park’s Volunteer Coordinator at (601) 636-0583 extension: 2969 or via email here. We can try to find something just for you!
