Painted Bunting males begin to arrive in the Timucuan Preserve in mid-April. The best time to see the buntings is in May and one of the best places to see buntings is at Kingsley Plantation, on Fort George Island.

The public was invited on a ranger-guided walk to observe one of the world’s most beautiful birds, the Painted Bunting, at Kingsley Plantation on Saturday, April 30, 2005 at 8:00 a.m. Timucuan Preserve Park Ranger and bird expert Roger Clark led the walk.
