Operating Hours & Seasons

The park is open year-round 24 hours a day.

Portions of the South Unit Scenic Loop Drive and North Unit Scenic Road may occasionally be closed in winter due to snow and ice.

VISITOR CENTERS:

South Unit Visitor Center
Open daily all year 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. MT with extended hours during the summer      

Closures - Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day

Painted Canyon Visitor Center 
Open April 1 - November 11 
Hours 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. MT with extended hours during the summer

North Unit Visitor Center 
Open all year 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. CT

Closures - Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. From October through May, the visitor center may be closed some weekdays and daily for short periods during lunch.

 

CAMPGROUNDS:

Cottonwood Campground 
Open all year. Limited services from October 1 to mid-May. Fees collected year-round.

Juniper Campground 
Open all year. Limited services from October 1 to mid-May.

River Bend Overlook in the North Unit is the work of federal relief agencies during the 1930s.  

Did You Know?
Handiwork by federal relief agencies in the 1930s including the CCC, WPA and ERA can be viewed in both the North and South Units.
