Climate data from high-elevation sites are important to understand changes in trends and extreme conditions.

Climate information from climate stations is collected for parks by the inventory & monitoring networks. Organizations such as ACIS (the Applied Climate Information System) have taken the lead in aggregating and disseminating climate-related data and are a source for up-to-date information.

Climate and weather is monitored in each of the Alaska I&M networks.
